Bellevue, WA (October 24, 2016) – A grand opening was held for the new Delta Sky Club at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which was built by PCL Construction Services, Inc. and designed by ECH Architecture. The new facility offers the growing airport a place for travelers to relax and recharge.

The 23,400-SF, 2-story Sky Club was constructed above an existing baggage handling facility and transit tunnel, which remained in operation 24-hours a day throughout construction. The Delta Sky Club is constructed of a steel frame structure, membrane roof, and curtain wall. The 30-foot high, south-facing window wall offers passengers a panoramic view of tarmac activity and Mount Rainier through View Dynamic Glass, which automatically adjusts its tinting to reduce glare and energy usage from interior lighting and air conditioning.

The facility’s design offers a flowing interior with ample seating and working areas, a full commercial kitchen, a bar and food service area, restrooms, shower rooms, and a spa where passengers can refresh. Power and data outlets at almost every seat keep all passengers charged up in between flights. Multiple art installations throughout feature local artists and nods to the Pacific Northwest such as the collage of Seattle photos that create a larger image of Pike Place Market.

This lounge is located airside at the intersection of Concourses A and B, and augments Delta Air Line’s current lounge at the South Satellite, which was also designed by ECH Architecture and constructed by PCL Construction.

“Our specialized team focuses on delivering successful projects for our clients that demand speed and innovation,” said Kaz Robertson, manager of PCL’s Special Projects Division. “We have been serving clients in the Seattle area for over 20 years and look forward to our continued work at Sea-Tac Airport.”

Additional projects at Sea-Tac have also been keeping PCL Seattle’s Special Projects division busy this year. The company is currently working on the South Satellite Interior Renovation and the Central Terminal Stairs Addition for the Port of Seattle as well as several other renovations for both Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines.
