Steve Yester to attract jobs to Puget Sound’s best-selling community of new single-family homes
Steve Yester has joined Newland Communities as manager of commercial real estate for the 4,700-acre Tehaleh community in Pierce County, the state’s only employment-based master planned community.
In this newly created position, Yester will focus on the development of Tehaleh’s 420 acres of commercial land that has entitlements for 4 million square feet of retail, commercial/industrial and civic development, as well as multifamily housing opportunities. The property includes a foreign trade zone designated by the Port of Tacoma. Yester will coordinate with real estate professionals, commercial developers and the business community in growing the employment centers in pace with Tehaleh’s residential neighborhoods, which are the best-selling single family neighborhoods in the Puget Sound region.
Yester brings more than 20 years of experience in local real estate development and asset management. Most recently, he served as chief development officer for Point Ruston, a 100-acre mixed-use project on Commencement Bay in Tacoma. He has managed development and operation of commercial, retail and multifamily mixed-use real estate. Yester began his career in the escrow closing department of a real estate law firm and then as a loan officer specializing in land and construction finance before joining a construction and development firm.
Yester studied community planning and environmental science at The Evergreen State College and enjoys continuing education through online offerings of several universities. He is a current member of several related professional associations including NAIOP, CBA and ULI.
