Retailer Showcases Selection of Washington-based Makers and Artisans

BROOKLYN, N.Y.–West Elm announced today a new store in Bellevue, Washington, bringing approximately 30 jobs to the city. Located in Venn at Main, a mixed-use development on Bellevue Way at Main Street, the 14,215 square-foot location opens at 10 A.M. on Thursday, October 20. As part of West Elm’s LOCAL program, seven Washington-based makers and designers will sell their products within the store’s holiday assortment of modern furnishings and décor, and a complimentary design lab offering West Elm’s Style + Services will support customers in their journey to express their personal style at home.

“Bellevue’s appreciation for heritage, community and innovation makes this a perfect home for us,” said West Elm president Jim Brett. “We can’t wait to connect to our new community with the great service and distinct products that can create such rewarding experiences whether you’re a new or regular West Elm customer.”

West Elm Bellevue’s store design includes a cash wrap created from reclaimed pine and fir that evokes the region’s history as an agricultural center. Sourced from an old grain elevator in Clarkston, WA, the salvaged wood is carefully stitched in an arrangement that echoes the mountainous terrain of Washington state.

To celebrate the opening, West Elm partnered with Bellevue-based artist MCreativeJ to design a limited edition tote bag that will be presented to the first 300 shoppers with a $50 minimum purchase on opening day. Additional store opening activities will include a sweepstakes* offering local customers a chance to win a $2,000 gift card and an invitation to a private pre-opening celebration on Wednesday, October 19 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A portion of the pre-opening celebration proceeds will benefit the Detlef Schrempf Foundation, a local nonprofit that supports organizations to provide hope, care and assistance to children and families of the Northwest.

A selection of locally made products by seven Washington-based makers and artisans will be a part of the West Elm Bellevue LOCAL assortment including:

  • Bunny Bear Press LLC: Hand lettered and crisscrossed coasters from Redmond, WA.
  • Constellation & Co.: Postcards and notecards designed and engraved by husband and wife team in Seattle, WA.
