Portland, OR – Truebeck, an industry-leading commercial general contractor, is pleased to announce the completion of The Factor Building, a new creative workspace in one of Portland’s fastest changing neighborhoods.
The Factor Building is a 55,000 square foot exterior and interior renovation of two existing buildings, both 1920s-era warehouses. The buildings are connected through new openings, a vertical circulation core, and shared building amenities. The new creative office and makerspace will give tenants a modernized workplace that maintains a connection with its working-class roots. Local artists were also used for murals around the building, which brings a community connection to the site. With creative elements inside and out, The Factor Building is truly a unique working environment.
The Truebeck team partnered with SUM Design Studio + Architecture to complete the seismic upgrades, new design-build MEP systems, energy efficient windows, an open common area with a central light monitor, and an elevator.
As the construction team transformed the aging warehouses to an inviting workspace, the development team at Libertas Management landed on the name for The Factor Building. Factor is a play on the Latin translation for “maker” or “creator” which perfectly suits the restored property.
“It’s been an honor to help Libertas breathe new life into this beautiful space,” said Christine Zinkgraf, Project Executive. “The Factor Building has the sophistication of a class-A office with the character of an artist’s studio, and I can’t wait to see what inspiration it sparks in the tenants.”
