Summer Construction at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center

Planned construction to address stormwater drainage and traffic safety improvements at the City of Tacoma’s Recovery and Transfer Station is anticipated to cause longer than normal wait times for customers from June through September.

The City wants customers to be aware of the potential for delays to reduce impacts from the construction project. The project will include regrading and repaving the employee parking lot to improve stormwater flow control, and installing a stormwater treatment ditch to filter out contaminates. Additionally, lighting, signage and signals will be installed, and modifications to traffic circulation will be made to improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

The Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3510 South Mullen Street. For more information about what is accepted, rates or hours and directions, visit them online at cityoftacoma.org/solidwaste.
