SMPS Announces the Winners of the 2019 Marketing Communications Awards

Alexandria, VA (August 2, 2019) – The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the premier A/E/C marketing and business development association, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 Marketing Communications Awards (MCA). This annual competition is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards program recognizing excellence in marketing and communications by professional services firms in the design and building industries. The MCAs, including Best of Show and People’s Choice, were recognized during the Evening of Excellence at Build Business, the SMPS annual conference, on Thursday, August 1, in Washington, D.C.

The Best of Show Award features the winning entries from each category going head-to-head to be named Best of Show. This year’s award went to Moody Nolan for their entry in the Project Pursuit category that was their proposal for the National Museum of African-American Music. The jurors noted, “The blending of the animations, videos, and printed materials conveyed the complete scope of the project in an interactive way drawing the audience in to the experience.”

The People’s Choice Award, voted on by conference attendees and SMPS members alike, was awarded to EXP from Chicago, IL, for its Newsletter/Publication-External, Digital entry entitled “EXP expresso 15: Convergence.”

“SMPS is proud to offer the MCA competition as it promotes the critical role and immense value marketing professionals bring to the design and building industries,” noted Josh Miles, chief marketing officer of SMPS.

This year Molly Dall’Erta, awards program director of SMPS, was thrilled to introduce the new custom-designed Award of Excellence, also known as the “M” award. “The custom award is something that I’ve wanted for our program for many years. I’m so excited to bring this to fruition,” shared Dall’Erta. She also noted that the online judging was a great success with over 150 jurors participating, the program’s largest jury ever. And with 315 entries, the highest number since 2008, the online portal made judging easy and efficient.
