Skanska USA names John Benson Chief Human Resources Officer and John Dykstra Chief Information Officer

New York, NY (October 10, 2018) – Skanska USA, one of the world’s leading construction and development firms, announced today the promotions of John Benson to Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and John Dykstra to Chief Information Officer (CIO). They will report to Richard Kennedy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Skanska USA.

In his role as CHRO, Benson will be responsible for leading Skanska’s human resources team with a focus on organizational health, the employee experience, talent development, talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement and diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Benson has been with Skanska for 15 years. In previous roles with the company, he served as Executive Vice President, responsible for overseeing Human Resources (HR), Communications and Information Technology for Skanska’s infrastructure development operations. He also served in leading positions in the HR organization as a member of Skanska’s West Coast Management Team for the company’s civil operations, as well as the Senior Leadership Team for Skanska’s US building operations.

“John is a value-driven leader with deep Skanska knowledge,” Kennedy said. “He sees all employees as ‘customers’ and strongly believes it is the prime mission of Human Resources to create a great customer experience. I am very eager to see us move forward on this new approach and plan in our talent and people strategies.”

In his role as CIO, Dykstra will be responsible for overseeing the vision, strategy and operations of our Information Technology (IT) leadership and direction of our IT solutions.

Dykstra has 25 years of experience leading and supporting companies in IT operations, strategy, support and application rollout in finance, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries. He has spent the last six years as Skanska’s Vice President IT Services based in Charlotte, NC, leading the teams that provide field support for Skanska’s projects, offices, customer service, application development, and technology services. Dykstra has led many global Skanska IT and US initiatives, most notable being the company’s cybersecurity, cloud strategy, project mobilization and mobile capabilities.

“John’s focus in his new role will be to improve our Information Technology alignment with our business units and increase engagement with our operations team—all while enhancing delivery capabilities,” Kennedy said. “He brings the right balance of IT focus on what our business, projects, and clients need. His leadership and customer-centric approach to his work will ensure we concentrate our IT efforts in the right areas.”
