SCB New Principal – Jay Longo

CHICAGO (March 2016) — Award-winning architecture, interior design, and planning firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) is pleased to announce that Jay Longo, AIA, LEED BD+C, has joined the firm as a Principal. Longo will be part of the design leadership team focused on commercial office buildings.

Longo brings more than 20 years of experience along with an impressive portfolio of commercial office, urban mixed-use development, and institutional projects. Prior to joining SCB, Longo served as President of Forum Studio and a Founding Partner of The Longo Park Design Workshop. He has also held leadership positions at Gensler, where he was a principal, design director and co-leader of the firm’s headquarters practice area. His design work has focused on high-performance facades, digital fabrication, and sustainable strategies for clients across the globe.

His past commercial office projects include the LEED Gold Panduit world headquarters in Tinley Park, Illinois; AMCOL headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Illinois; and the 405,000-square-foot headquarters for Reinsurance Group of America in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Longo serves on the Alumni Board of Governors at the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council, and Urban Land Institute. He has lectured and given numerous presentations regarding sustainable commercial building design at the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Chicago History Museum, USGBC Chicago Chapter, Green Build, University of Illinois (Chicago and Champaign-Urbana campuses), and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan.
