Richard Sherman & Kam Chancellor Look to Bring Legion, a New Restaurant, to Kemper’s Lincoln Square

By The Registry Staff

According to a recent liquor license application submitted to the state Liquor and Cannabis Board, two former Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowlers have joined forces to be part of the team behind one of downtown Bellevue’s latest restaurant ventures.

Legion, the new restaurant, counts Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor, both stars from the iconic Legion of Boom, among its owners. The establishment is set to occupy the former space of Pearl Seafood & Oyster Bar at Lincoln Square North in Bellevue. Described as an upscale sports bar with a focus on soul food and innovative cocktails, Legion is scheduled to open its doors in September, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Kemper Development Co., the operator of Lincoln Square, according to a report in the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor were key members of the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl teams in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and each contributed seven and eight years of their careers to the Seahawks organization.

The 7,500 square-foot Legion venue, located at 700 Bellevue Way NE, has remained closed since 2020. The space is undergoing renovations to accommodate a dining room, bar, and private dinner area. Renovation work began in January.

The liquor license application lists Ashley Sherman, Richard Sherman’s wife, and Tiffany Chancellor, Kam Chancellor’s wife, as additional applicants, along with Leilani Wong and Adam Willden. Another applicant, Legion Bellevue LLC, is connected to an entity governed by Wong, Richard Sherman, and Kam Chancellor.

This venture is not Richard Sherman’s first venture into the world of dining, as he has already established two Wingstop locations in the Seattle area.

Legion joins a growing lineup of restaurants that will be part of Kemper Development’s Bellevue Collection, including Shake Shack, Water Grill, Farzi Cafe, Cantina Monarca, and the recently revamped food hall at Lincoln Square South.
