40 years ago Jack and Marilyn Rafn created the J.M.Rafn Company in response to a request from their neighbor to undertake the renovation of Seattle’s historic Nord Building. At a time when design-bid-build was the standard of the industry the Nord Building was one of the very early negotiated renovations in Pioneer Square and the initial proving ground for this vision.
Four decades later and now with a staff of 110 construction professionals and craftspeople, the Rafn Company provides professional pre-construction and construction management services for our clients in the multi-housing, commercial, tenant improvement, renovation, and sustainable construction markets.
We are currently combining many of these aspects on one project, Mercy Magnuson Place. The project involves the historic renovation of a former naval barracks at Sand Point, build out of 142 affordable housing units, and tenant improvements for an early childhood education center and health clinic.
The Rafn Company has grown successfully on Jack Rafn’s original values with a focus on negotiated work. The Rafn team is committed to continuing to build success with these values. We will continue to seek the high road at every opportunity and we will continue to be – Good People doing Great Work.
