Meta Platforms Inc. has, for a long time, maintained a presence in Redmond. Looking to further its growing footprint in the area, the Menlo Park, Calif.-based social media conglomerate recently leased more than 220,0000 square feet of commercial office space in the city’s Willows neighborhood.
According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, which first reported on the lease, the company has signed a lease to occupy the former Zetron headquarters building 12034 134th Court NE. Known as Willows Ridge Tech Center, the building stands three stories tall and was built in 1994.
Previous reporting from The Registry shows the property last sold in May of 2021 for $20 million, when it was acquired by Medina, Wash.-based Par 5 Willow Ridge Tech Center.
Willows Ridge Tech Center is located in northeastern Redmond, just east of Interstate 405. The property is also within close proximity to the Willows Run Golf Complex, where several other Meta-occupied buildings are located. Two properties – at 9845 Willows Road and 10915 Willows Road – in the immediate area are occupied by Meta Reality Labs, a branch of Meta which focuses on virtual reality.
Currently under construction, Meta is also expected to soon occupy space at a 350,000 square foot office building known as Building X, which is located at 10201 Willows Road NE. Once completed, the office building will connect to a proposed Building Z via a skybridge. Building Z is planned to include five stories and total approximately 336,000 square feet.
Overall, the Facebook parent company operates more than 80 offices worldwide as well as 21 data centers.
