Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center Honors Swinerton Builders with Corporate Strides Award

Seattle, Washington: Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center (Little Bit) has selected Swinerton Builders to receive their Corporate Strides Award. In honor of Swinerton’s dedication to exceptional volunteerism, commitment, and ongoing support of the Little Bit mission—to improve the lives of adults and children with disabilities through equine-assisted activities and therapy—Little Bit will present Swinerton with the award at their third annual Making Strides Community Breakfast.

“We are so pleased to work with the Swinerton team here at Little Bit,” said Jeff Nomura, Little Bit Interim Executive Director. “Their ongoing commitment to our organization has been exceptional, devoting time and talent toward making the world a better place for people with disabilities. The projects they undertake help enable us to fulfill our mission of improving the bodies, minds, and spirits of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy and activities.  Also, for the past two years The Swinerton Foundation has become a generous donor.”

Swinerton is a proud supporter of Little Bit and has partnered with the non-profit organization during its companywide 2013 and 2014 Fall Giving Campaign. Initiated by The Swinerton Foundation—the company’s non-profit arm—this annual program provides an additional opportunity, beyond the Foundation’s ongoing activities, for Swinerton to support organizations throughout local communities across the United States. The Campaign also engages each Swinerton office in a friendly competition to see which location will earn the most points based on collected goods, volunteer hours, and monetary donations for non-profit organizations selected by Swinerton employees.

In 2013, Swinerton’s Seattle-based team rallied together during the Fall Giving Campaign, earning the highest number of points out of each Swinerton division along with a matched contribution from The Swinerton Foundation. The extraordinary efforts of employees and the support of The Swinerton Foundation allowed the team to present a check of $14,725 to Little Bit.

Continuing their momentum during the 2014 Fall Giving Campaign, the 21-member strong team volunteered over 251 hours, constructed two loafing sheds, performed numerous door installations, and completed various repairs throughout the Little Bit facility. The team earned the highest number of points for the second consecutive year, and received a $9,000 monetary contribution from The Swinerton Foundation—which they presented to Little Bit in December 2014.

“The Swinerton Foundation is very proud to support Little Bit, an organization that truly enhances lives in such a unique way,” said Swinerton Division Manager Dave Worley. “The passion of our employees combined with their commitment and tremendous efforts have allowed us to raise over $20,000 for a much deserving organization.”

Little Bit will present Swinerton with the Corporate Strides Award at the third annual Making Strides Community Breakfast at the Bellevue Club on October 22.
