An auto group with locations throughout the country has purchased two sites in Lynnwood that include a car dealership and associated service garage, according to Snohomish County records. Both the dealership, Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood, and the garage traded in the same transaction for $30 million, or about $306 per square foot. The buyer was an entity affiliated with Fields Auto Group, and the seller was an entity affiliated with the Halata family, which has owned Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood for a number of years.

Located at 17800 and 17121 Highway 99, the properties are positioned on the north end of the city. The service garage totals approximately 58,236 square feet, and the dealership spans about 39,637 square feet, property records show. In total, the two structures come in at nearly 98,000 square feet of space.

Mercedes-Benz of Lynnwood opened in the fall of 2005 with less than 10 people on staff, according to the property’s website. Since then, the business has grown to 100 people on staff. The business moved into its current facility back in 2010.

Family owned and operated, Fields Auto began with the opening of Fields Cadillac in Evanston, Ill., in 1971, according to the company’s website. The firm primarily serves customers in Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Fields Auto represents a number of brands, including MINI, BMW, Bentley Motors, Cadillac, Chrysler, Dodge, Jaguar, Jeep and many others. Among the services offered by the firm are complimentary car washes, free paintless dent repair within 90 days of purchase and discounts for students and seniors.

The Puget Sound region has seen other sales transactions involving car dealerships within the past year.

Last year in Seattle, a car dealership traded hands in a $25 million deal, according to previous reporting from The Registry. The buyer was listed as an entity affiliated with Swickard Auto Group, a large dealership with locations throughout the country, and the seller was listed as an entity affiliated with Byers Properties, LLC. The major property in the deal, Volvo Cars Seattle, is a 3,670 square foot showroom located on almost half an acre at 2700 NE 55th St.
