Brooks Running Expands Presence in Seattle’s Fremont Neighborhood With 32,000 SQFT Lease

Brooks Running, a prominent name in the athletic shoe and apparel industry, is further expanding its footprint in Seattle’s vibrant Fremont neighborhood. This strategic move underscores the company’s growth trajectory and commitment to strengthening its presence in the region.

Brooks Running has recently leased over 32,000 square feet in the Lake View Building, located on the Fremont Lake Union Center campus. This information was revealed in a fourth-quarter report by Savills, a commercial real estate firm. The additional space complements Brooks’ existing headquarters and its pre-leased expansion into the upcoming 35 Stone mixed-use development.

The occupancy of the Lake View Building at 837 N. 34th St. is intended as a temporary measure, according to a report in the Puget Sound Business Journal. “We leased the [Lake View] space to accommodate growth during the Covid [work-from-home] period and to facilitate a return to office while we explored long-term expansion solutions,” a spokesperson said in the report. The company plans a transition to 35 Stone, a 120,000-square-foot mass-timber project by Evolution Projects, scheduled for completion later this year.

Founded in Philadelphia in 1914, Brooks is one of America’s oldest athletic shoe and apparel retailers. The brand relocated its headquarters to Bothell in the 1990s and then to the 120,000-square-foot Stone34 in Fremont. In 2022, the company confirmed pre-leasing space at 35 Stone, located just a block north of its current headquarters.

Brooks Running recently appointed Gabriel Rodriguez, an Under Armour veteran, as its vice president of apparel and accessories. Rodriguez, who has extensive experience in the running apparel sector, including a stint as the director for NBA star Stephen Curry’s brand, is expected to lead the company into its next growth phase. “Gaby’s leadership capabilities and deep knowledge of the running industry are pivotal for our future direction,” President and COO Dan Sheridan said in a statement.
