91-Room Cambria Hotel Development in Spokane Secures $7.1MM in Construction Financing

Juniper Capital, a Seattle private money lender, has announced the closing of construction financing on a 91-key Cambria Hotel in Spokane, Washington. The hotel is being developed by Brar Hotels Group, LLC, and is the first Cambria location in the city. The four-story, 91-room upscale hotel is expected to open in 2023 and will offer convenient access to several of the region’s largest employers, local wineries, and popular outdoor activities along the Spokane River.

The borrower, an experienced hotelier, had already funded a significant portion of the construction, and the subject loan of $7.1 million will bring the project to completion and stabilization. This is particularly notable in a market where banks have pulled back on new construction lending.

The Cambria brand is designed for today’s time-starved travelers, offering a distinct experience with simple, guilt-free indulgences allowing guests to treat themselves while on the road, according to a statement from the company. The Cambria Hotel in Spokane will feature immersive, spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors, contemporary and sophisticated guestrooms, onsite dining, multi-function meeting space, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and locally inspired design.

“As the largest city in the region, Spokane is the cultural and economic center for the Inland Northwest—making it the ideal market to welcome the Cambria brand,” said Mark Shalala, vice president, franchise development, upscale brands, Choice Hotels, in a statement. “Adding a location like Spokane will further the Cambria brand’s commitment to expanding in key markets where modern travelers need to be and where developers want to build.”

“The Cambria brand is a perfect fit for a city like Spokane, which is thriving—not just as a growing business hub, but also as a destination for tourists looking to experience the Evergreen State,” said Mohinder Brar, owner/developer, Brar Hotels Group, in a statement. “Choice is an excellent brand and we’re pleased to join forces with them to bring this Cambia project to life in our hometown.”

The Cambria Hotel in Spokane is a significant development for Brar Hotels Group, led by Mohinder and Paramjeet Brar, since the company has over 13 years of experience owning and operating hotels. The Brars currently own and operate the Best Western Plus Lakefront in Moses Lake, Washington.
