August 9th, 2017 — Judges for the 2017 Gold Nugget Awards have named two Weber Thompson projects as Merit Award winners in its 54th annual competition, which honors design and planning excellence and draws entries from throughout the United States and internationally. Seattle’s NEXUS condominium tower received a Merit Award in the ‘Best on the Boards Multifamily Community’category; Weber Thompson was the Architect, Landscape Architect and Interior Design firm on the project. Gunbarrel Center in Boulder, Colorado received a Merit Award in the Best Multifamily Community with 18-30 dwelling units per acre category; Weber Thompson was the Interior Design firm on the project, while BAR Architects provided Architecture services.

“Gold Nugget Award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers,” said Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies administrator Lisa Parrish. Now in its 54th year, GNA is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the nation. It honors design and planning achievements in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing categories. Winners this year were chosen from 630 entries from around the world.

Weber Thompson’s interdisciplinary design services on NEXUS have established it as a bold and innovative 440’ tall high-rise residential project. The Burrard Group is developing this 40-story building with 382 condominium units and 3,658 sq.ft. of retail at the corner of Howell Street and Minor Avenue in Downtown Seattle. NEXUS is currently more than 80 percent presold and occupancy is scheduled for mid-2019.

This 251-unit apartment community has a total of 14 separate buildings, with open green space, a swimming pool, fitness center, parking garage and other amenities. Weber Thompson’s Interior Design Studio designed the amenity space interiors and model units for the project. BAR Architects provided architectural design.
