UNIQLO to Open its First Store in Downtown Seattle

October 31st, Seattle, Washington – Global retailer UNIQLO will open its first store in downtown Seattle on November 18th, occupying 12,000 square feet of the ground floor at iconic 300 Pine, located on the corner of Pine Street and 4th Avenue. The new location will be the brand’s anchor store in Seattle, complemented by existing stores in the greater metro area at Bellevue Square and Westfield Southcenter. It will offer the brand’s full lineup of LifeWear for men, women, and kids. LifeWear is clothing designed to make everyone’s life better. It is simple, high-quality, everyday clothing, thoughtfully made with life’s needs in mind and is always evolving to modern life.

UNIQLO Pine Street will be the second store opening for the brand this fall, initiating a 5-year expansion strategy UNIQLO announced earlier this year, focused on increasing presence in key regions such as the east and west coast, while entering new cities across the U.S. and Canada. UNIQLO aims to open 30 new stores a year to reach 200 in North America by 2027.

“Since opening our first store in the Seattle area in 2015, we have enjoyed serving our customers in the Pacific Northwest with the highest level of service and apparel that suits all lifestyles,” said Daisuke Tsukagoshi, UNIQLO North America CEO. “We look forward to joining the downtown Seattle community at 300 Pine – a destination for shoppers, visitors, and workers alike—with our LifeWear clothing that is made for everyone, every day.”

“We are extremely excited to have UNIQLO’s new downtown Seattle anchor store opening at 300 Pine, just steps away from the bustling Westlake Park. This great addition to our retail core will bring even more energy to the already vibrant shopping and restaurant experience in the immediate neighborhood,” said Shawn Jackson, Urban Renaissance Group Managing Director, Seattle.

Products and Services

UNIQLO Pine Street will offer the brand’s iconic products for men, women, and children, such as HEATTECH – an innovative fabric that generates heat from the body to keep you warm – and Ultra Light Down – warm, packable jackets perfect for layering or travel. Other staples include Windproof Fleece, knits, t-shirts, and BlueCycle jeans – made using just a teacup’s worth of water – up to 99% less than in the standard jeans finishing process.

For fast and convenient service, the store will offer its buy-online-pickup-in-store service, and to ensure customers leave with what they need in the right fit, complimentary alterations. For any pair of pants $20 or above (excluding athletic wear and sweat pants), UNIQLO provides free hemming services to pant lengths fit to the customers’ unique measurements.

Community Support

Leading up to the Grand Opening, UNIQLO will donate 1,000 units of cold weather clothing – Ultra Light Down jackets, HEATTECH, and sweats – to the Seattle DESC (Department of Emergency Services), which works to end homelessness in the Seattle area. UNIQLO Pine Street team members will volunteer at a DESC shelter on Thursday, November 3rd to distribute the donated products.

In addition to serving local communities, UNIQLO routinely delivers clothing to people in need throughout the world. Through the brand’s RE.UNIQLO program, customers are invited to donate their gently worn UNIQLO clothing back to their local stores so that UNIQLO can give it to those who need it most – including refugee camps and disaster areas together with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), NGOs, and NPOs.

Today UNIQLO has more than 2,300 stores across the world, including 44 stores in the U.S. Since opening its first store in Hiroshima in 1984, UNIQLO has created apparel that comes from the Japanese values of simplicity, quality, and longevity, featuring universal designs, supreme fit and comfort with the aim to improve the daily lives of its customers.
