PCS Structural Solutions announced the appointment of Todd Parke as new president following the retirement of Craig Stauffer and marking a significant milestone for the 60-year-old company. This transition comes as the firm continues to build on its strong foundation and look toward future growth and innovation.
Parke outlined several key goals and priorities for the coming years. The firm is halfway through its five-year vision cycle and will continue to promote healthy growth through a diversified portfolio and further develop the success of its Portland office. Additionally, there will be substantial investments in holistic staff mentorship and employee wellness, reflecting the company’s commitment to its team.
To foster innovation and growth, PCS continues to invest in their Innovation Team, which is driven by the passions of its employees. The team focuses on innovation throughout the organization and has been working on a variety of research projects such as drawing automation and enhanced seismic resilience options.
Sustainable design remains a critical area of focus for the firm. As one of the first signatories to the SE 2050 initiative, PCS is committed to promoting net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Current PCS work involves reducing embodied carbon—the carbon emissions associated with the production, transportation, installation, maintenance, and disposal of building and infrastructure materials—through refining material quantity tracking and materials selection. By harnessing and synchronizing significant project data and design workflow, PCS can help impact embodied carbon goals, while also providing cost savings and transparency.
In a message to partners, Parke highlighted PCS’s dedication to building long-lasting relationships through trust, reliability, and innovation. Says Parke, “This is a people-centric industry, and PCS has become a legacy structural engineering firm by building long-lasting relationships. We will continue to work intentionally to be a structural partner, that not only brings significant value, but a firm that you enjoy working with.”
This leadership change underscores PCS Structural Solutions’ commitment to excellence and its strategic vision for the future, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of the structural engineering industry.
PCS Structural Solutions is a single-discipline structural engineering firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland.
