Seattle, Washington (November 20, 2017) – This year marks the ninth consecutive year PCL Construction Services, Inc. has helped provide local families with a holiday meal. Throughout its offices across the country, PCL has donated more than $50,000 to local food banks this holiday season; $5,000 of that was donated to Food Lifeline and Northwest Harvest to help families here in western Washington.
According to Northwest Harvest, one in six Washingtonians relies on their local food bank, and one in five children lives in a household that struggles to put food on the table.
PCL understands its responsibility to help the communities where we live and work. With PCL’s donations to Food Lifeline and Northwest Harvest, these organizations can provide approximately 20,000 meals for those in need. According to No Kid Hungry, on average, every dollar donated can help provide 10 meals to a child.
“When the President and CEO of Food Lifeline, Linda Nageotte, mentioned that our donation would create about 10,000 meals, I was humbled,” said Aaron Wiehe, vice president and district manager of PCL. “It’s heartbreaking to know how many local families are struggling. PCL welcomes the opportunity to make a positive difference in our neighborhoods.”
“Our employees believe in supporting hunger relief in our communities,” said Felicia Bawdon, human resources manager for PCL. “PCL’s continued support of local food banks is a priority, especially during the holiday season when we’re reminded of all of the things we have to be grateful for.”
Since 2009, PCL Construction’s U.S. operating locations have provided over $1 million worth of meals to local food banks across the country as part of our commitment to building strong communities.
