New 20,000 SQFT Bellevue Fire Station to be Completed in 2025

By The Registry Staff

Bellevue could soon see the first first new fire station constructed in the city in nearly 30 years. According to information from Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the designer on the project, Bellevue Fire Station 10 will be the primary emergency response facility for the downtown area of the city. The project boasts a size of 20,000 square feet and is estimated to be completed by 2025.

Located at 1215 112th Ave NE, Bellevue Fire Station 10 is designed to accommodate the needs of 14 emergency responders who work 48-hour shifts. The building features live/work accommodations, including a kitchen and dining area, fitness room, bunk rooms and restrooms, according to Bohlin Cywinski Jackson’s website. New offices for the battalion chief are also included, featuring a fire command center and a training classroom.

The design of Fire Station 10 is meant to prioritize the well-being of its occupants and the environment. Operational functions are situated to the south of the building to minimize disruption to nearby residential neighborhoods. Living and communal areas, such as the kitchen, dining spaces and bunk rooms, are located on the north side, offering views of the adjacent forest and wetlands. Natural light is provided through floor-to-ceiling windows, and interior lighting technology aids first responders during night shifts.

Functioning as a civic amenity, the station incorporates both public and secure areas to encourage interaction with the community. The southern end of the apparatus bay, facing McCormick Park, features a training wall and hydrant for outdoor exercises. The entry gallery will showcase artifacts related to the history of the Bellevue Fire Department and the surrounding neighborhood. Additionally, a training classroom offers panoramic views of the park and downtown area.
