MainStreet Property Group Breaks Ground on The POP in Downtown Bothell

122-Unit Apartment Building to Feature 10,000 sq. ft. of Ground-Floor Retail

Four-Story Mixed-Use Building Next to Bothell’s Pop Keeney Stadium and McMenamins, Slated to Open Summer 2019

A Walk Anywhere Community™ Located Steps Away from New High-Quality Dining, Retail, Library, Banking/Medical Services, City Hall and Popular Burke Gilman Trail

Bothell, Wash., May 14, 2018 – MainStreet Property Group LLC (www.mspgroupllc.com), a full-service Kirkland-based real estate developer, today announced the start of construction at The POP, a new four-story mixed-use residential and retail building in the heart of Downtown Bothell. Construction is slated to be complete in late summer 2019.

Featuring 122 apartment homes and 10,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail, The POP is located at 9634 Thorsk Street in downtown Bothell, situated between the Sammamish River tributary Horse Creek and popular Pop Kenney Stadium, a sports and recreation facility serving as home to numerous youth and high-school sporting events and community activities throughout the year.

“The POP will be unlike any mixed-use project on the Eastside and more particularly in downtown Bothell,” said MainStreet Property Group President Kelly Price. “It’s location as the backdrop to the stadium and proximity within a short walk or bike ride to dining at McMenamins, Poquitos, Stack 571 Burger & Whiskey Bar, Prime Steakhouse, Amaro Bistro and PinkaBella—as well many other service offerings including The Everett Clinic—is what makes it so unique.”

“This project will also honor the legacy of Harold ‘Pop’ Keeney and the history of popular culture to provide an amazing canvas to work from,” continued Price. “We cannot wait to bring The Pop to fruition.”

The POP: Building on Downtown Bothell’s ‘Walk Anywhere Community’™ Allure
Focused on offering a high-quality, modern, vibrant and culture-centric building, MainStreet has branded The POP a Walk Anywhere Community™ — meaning residents can access shopping, dining, medical services, banking services, City Hall, the library, the Sammamish River slough and the Burke Gilman Trail through 500 steps, 50 bike pedals or a five-minute walk.

The POP is also located within a block of MainStreet’s recent development the Junction, a six-story, mixed-use community including 130 apartment homes, 30,000 sq. ft. of office space and 10,000 sq. ft. of ground level retail. Popular tenants including Poquitos (Mexican cuisine), Stack 571 (burger and whiskey bar), Prime Steakhouse, Pinkabella (gourmet cupcakes), The Everett Clinic and First Financial NW Bank.

Also steps away is the recently redeveloped historic McMenamins Anderson School, which features restaurants and outdoor dining, a movie theatre, live music, large indoor swimming pool and shopping.

High-end Amenities, Art at The POP as Building Honors Local Legend Herald ‘Pop’ Keeney
Named after local icon Harold ‘Pop’ Keeney—Bothell’s first football coach and the son of one of Bothell’s founding families—The POP will celebrate the energy and vibrancy of Pop Culture and Pop Art while paying tribute to nearby Pop Keeney Stadium, including positioning the building to take advantage of nearby games.

The POP will also honor the legacy of Harold ‘Pop’ Keeney through by featuring the ‘coolest alley on the eastside’—complete with a Pop Art-focused street basketball court and a walking path that wraps around the entire building. The southern side of the building will also include a beautiful courtyard for relaxing and socializing that will include high-tech outdoor work pods.

MainStreet Property Group Continues its Investment in Downtown Bothell Resurgence
The City of Bothell is in the midst of one of the largest publicly-led downtown revitalizations in Washington State. As part of the vision for its downtown core, it sold nearly one million sq. ft. of land for redevelopment and has completed public investments totaling more than $150 million. Currently, the City estimates that more than $350 million in private investment has been built, is planned or is under construction within Bothell.

The POP will represent the completion of 650 new apartments and 55,000 sq. ft. of new retail space developed and constructed by MainStreet Property Group in Bothell over the last five years. The Junction is also located in the heart of this redevelopment effort on Bothell Way, along with the Six Oaks Apartments + Retail, The (104) Apartments and The Landing Townhomes (currently under construction) also developed by MainStreet.

The POP project will be constructed by GenCap Construction, Corp. (www.gencapconstruction.com), a commercial general contracting and construction management firm. GGLO Design (www.gglo.com) is the architect and interior designer, The Blueline Group (www.thebluelinegroup.com) is the civil engineer and U.S. Bank is providing the construction financing.

In addition to its projects in Bothell, MainStreet has developed or is constructing several projects on the Eastside, including: The (104) Apartments and the Junction in Bothell, Wash., The Carter on the Park, the Heron Flats + Lofts, and The Bond in Redmond, Wash., The Sky in Sammamish, Wash., The Spencer 68 Apartments + Lofts, The LINQ Lofts + Flats, The Flyway, a freestanding restaurant with commercial in Kenmore, Wash., and The Slater 116 Apartments in Kirkland, Wash.
