MainStreet Property Group Breaks Ground on the Flyway; New 27-Unit Boutique Apartment BuildingFeaturing 5,700 SQFT Ground-Floor Commercial Space in the Heart of Downtown Kenmore

New Mixed-Use Residential Building Slated to Open February 2019 With Large, Townhome-Style Apartment Homes and Commercial Units for Potential Restaurant, Retail or Office Spaces

Kenmore, Wash. (March 25, 2019) – MainStreet Property Group LLC (www.mspgroupllc.com), a full-service Kirkland-based developer, today announced the start of construction at the Flyway, a new five-story mixed-use residential building in Kenmore. Construction is slated to be complete by February 2020.

Featuring 27 townhouse-style apartment homes and 5,700 sq. ft. of ground-floor commercial space, the Flyway is located near the corner of NE 181st St and 68th Ave NE in the heart of downtown Kenmore’s thriving Town Square. The ‘boutique’-style building will feature larger-sized units with between four to six retail spaces below.

“We’re thrilled to begin construction on the Flyway,” said MainStreet Property Group President Kelly Price. “As Kenmore’s revitalization continues and its downtown further grows and expands, residents at our communities here are not only living—but thriving. We’re excited to bring even more residential, commercial and retail opportunities to the area as the Flyway ‘takes it up another notch’ for Kenmore living.”

The Flyway: Lakeview Living in the Heart of Downtown Kenmore

Situated just steps away from the popular Seaplane Kitchen and Bar, The Hangar in downtown Kenmore (featuring Diva Espresso), and across from Kenmore City Hall, the Flyway will offer ten floor plans with luxury and modern features and amenities including stunning views of Lake Washington.

Slated for U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold Certification, the Flyway will be five stories from the building’s west elevation and four from the east, while including 36 parking spaces, a leasing office with lounge area for residents, a Starbucks Serenade Single-Cup Brewer with three whole bean hoppers and five coffee varieties to choose from; and rooftop patio featuring tremendous views of Lake Washington while overlooking Town Square.

Additionally, the Flyway is a Mainstreet-branded Walk Anywhere Community™, meaning residents can access dining, medical services, financial services, groceries, City Hall and the library within 1,000 steps, 100 bike pedals or a ten-minute walk. The 5,700 sq. ft. of commercial space will also likely host potential fitness, retail, office tenants or possibly a restaurant.

At Flyway, MainStreet’s related company GenCap Construction Corp. will be the general contractor, Dahlin Group Architecture Planning is the architect and Lisa Wiggins is planning the interior design with The Blueline Group as the  civil engineer and DCI Engineers as the structural engineer. MainStreet Property Group is the developer and Insite Property Solutions will provide professional property management services.

“Seeing our vision for downtown Kenmore coming to fruition is incredibly exciting,” said Mayor of Kenmore, David Baker. “MainStreet has been an incredible partner and it’s amazing to see the work they’ve done to revitalize this area. We’re very appreciative of their efforts and look forward to the completion of the Flyway.”

As its primary development partner, MainStreet has worked closely with the City of Kenmore on several new mixed-use developments in its new Town Square, including the commercial building housing Seaplane Kitchen and Bar, The Spencer 68 (225 for-lease apartments/lofts) and the LINQ Lofts + Flats (94 for-lease apartments above an all-new 20,000 sq. ft. EvergreenHealth Primary Care).

“The Flyway site was once a mostly-vacant strip mall without much economic activity—I’m so pleased to see it is all coming together just as we planned,” said Kenmore City Manager, Rob Karlinsey. “We’re proud to call MainStreet a partner. They’ve done an incredible job helping us realize our vision and delivering on what they’ve promised to create – a thriving, walkable downtown.”

Through its developments and in conjunction with City investments, MainStreet has increased Kenmore’s multifamily housing opportunities, filled a community need by creating new pedestrian amenities, and improved streetscapes that advance downtown’s overall walkability. As a result, the City of Kenmore and MainStreet Property Group received the Washington State Governor’s Smart Communities Award in 2016.

In addition to the Flyway, MainStreet has been an award winning developer of numerous projects on the Eastside and surrounding areas.
