Firm’s leadership transition includes two promotions within its executive committee

BELLEVUE, WASH. – Nov. 18, 2021 – GLY Construction (GLY), a locally-owned general contracting firm, announced today that it has named Steve Hoffmann as its new President. The change is effective immediately and part of GLY’s overall succession and leadership planning. Hoffmann succeeds Ted Herb, who will continue as Chief Executive Officer.

Hoffmann graduated from the University of Washington, where he played football and was team captain in 1995. He joined GLY in 1996 as a project engineer, rising to senior project manager before becoming a firm shareholder in 2008, and Executive Vice President of Operations in 2016.

“Steve’s played a major role in shaping GLY’s values of investing in each other, and to never stop learning and questioning,” said Herb. “He’s supported a number of prominent PNW clients and projects and has a legacy of service to the community. This balanced leadership, and his deep understanding of the diverse skills and perspectives that contribute to successful project delivery, are what make Steve a great leader today and for GLY’s next chapter.”

The announcement also included the promotion of Tyler Tonkin to Executive Vice President of Operations, the role Hoffmann held for five years before advancing to President. Tonkin graduated from Central Washington University before joining GLY in 1998. He became a shareholder in 2010.

Also serving on GLY’s Executive Committee are Mark Kane, Chief Operating Officer; Joe Bonacci, Chief Financial Officer; and Executive Vice President Bill DeJarlais.
