New York, NY – Skanska USA, one of the world’s leading construction and project development firms, today announced the promotion of Don Crotty to lead its Life Science Center of Excellence (COE), effective immediately.
In his new capacity, Crotty will assist regional offices to capitalize on increased investment in facilities for research, development and manufacturing of drugs and medical devices by universities, the federal government, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. His immediate focus will be to understand industry trends and technical issues, communicate to our clients and the industry as an expert in that particular field and to maintain relationships in that industry sector. This approach aims to ensure steady, consistent growth in the market, with a specific focus on new opportunities in Seattle, San Francisco, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Texas and Florida.
“One of our strategies for our 2020 Business Plan is to put new emphasis on life sciences since we have had such great success in this market and it continues to grow and show strength,” said Bill Flemming, President & CEO of Skanska USA Building. “Working closely with other COE leaders, particularly healthcare and mission critical, Don will take a focused and centralized approach to steadily growing our life science practice.”
Based in Skanska’s Oakland, California office, Crotty had previously served as Vice President and West Coast Director of Skanska’s Life Sciences projects in that state. A native of Maine, Crotty joined Skanska in 2015 with more than 30 years of applied project management and mechanical engineering experience and served as a consultant to companies including Novartis, Alexandria, Amgen, Genentech, Illumina and others. He has directed and supervised engineering for hundreds of projects, including cold/warm shell developer buildings, cGMP facilities, R&D laboratories, data centers, healthcare facilities, commercial projects, and large scale multiple building campuses in the U.S., China, and India.
