CBRE Opens New Workplace360 Office in Downtown Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Feb. 27, 2020 CBRE announced today the opening of its new downtown Portland office. The company now occupies the full 35th floor at 1300 Southwest Fifth Avenue, five floors up from its former space.

The office is part of CBRE’s global “Workplace360” initiative that reimagines CBRE workspaces to promote flexibility, mobility and productivity through technology-enabled, free-address and reduced paper offices.

“Only a few-thousand sq. ft. larger, our new office is a massive leap forward in terms of functionality and design. By embracing a more agile workplace strategy, we are able to accommodate a 30% increase in on-site headcount while giving our employees and clients better access to innovative technology and amenities with an authentically Portland vibe,” said Jason Green, Managing Director of CBRE’s Portland office.

The new office has no assigned desks and a large percentage of the overall footprint is dedicated to collaborative spaces. Employees can choose from nine different spaces to work depending on their needs throughout the day, including individual workstations, private focus rooms, collaborative huddle rooms and a communal café area.

A focus on technology further enables employee mobility. Workstations are equipped with sit-stand desks, ultra-wide monitors and video conference technology. Follow-me printing reduces waste and preserves data privacy.

The Portland office joins more than 80 other CBRE offices worldwide to make the switch to Workplace360.

“Each Workplace360 office is designed to optimize productivity, mobility and collaboration, but achieving those goals can look quite different in Portland versus Atlanta or Washington, D.C. We analyze each office before we start to determine the unique functional needs of our people, and our end design is always informed by the local culture and community,” said Peter Van Emburgh, Global Director of Corporate Workplace and Facilities, CBRE.

Unique aspects of the Portland office include the lighting scheme, which is designed with a nod to the famous carpet at PDX. Copper and brick accents throughout the space pay homage to Portland’s industrial heritage while the conference rooms are named after local mountains. The office also includes several murals by local artists, and the communal café serves coffee from local Portland brands.

Leveraging CBRE’s Global Facilities, Workplace, Design, Project Management, Advisory & Transaction Services, and Operations teams, the Portland Workplace360 office is a true collaboration among numerous service lines.
