The owl in the carving is especially symbolic given its connection to my grandfather as a signature element in all his work.”
The building and interiors at The Carter on the Park were designed by Seattle-based architect GGLO in conjunction with MainStreet Property Group. The general contractor is W.G. Clark Construction Co. and Insite Property Solutions is providing professional property management services. Project ownership is MainStreet Property Group LLC and Washington Holdings is MainStreet’s capital partner on the project.

As a homesteader, renowned artist and wood carver, Dudley Carter built and lived in the “Haida House” which remains today in Dudley Carter Park across the street from The Carter—and he became the first King County artist-in-residence at the age of 96. In his honor, his granddaughter Anna Hanson created the building’s 30-foot tall wood wall carving in the lobby, as well as a custom panel installation around the elevators in a style based on Dudley’s carving techniques. The lobby will also showcase ‘The Collection’—a gallery featuring an additional carved piece from Dudley Carter.
