June 22, 2016 — Weber Thompson has promoted Bernadette Rubio, NCIDQ, LEED AP to Interior Design Principal. Bernadette will lead Weber Thompson’s team of ten interior designers, space planners and LEED Accredited Professionals who work within the firm’s Interior Design Studio. The studio works on a wide range of projects including residential interiors, commercial office tenant improvements, and hospitality and retail environments.
Former Interior Design Principal Carrie Smith has stepped down from her role at Weber Thompson, where she and Bernadette built Weber Thompson’s Interior Design team over the past five years to the size and reputation it boasts today.
In January, Weber Thompson was named one of Interior Design Magazine’s top 100 residential interior design firms. Last fall, the team won an IIDA People’s Choice Award for the interior design of LUMA Condominiums.
Bernadette worked closely with Carrie Smith over the past four years at Weber Thompson, so the transition will be seamless for the firm’s clients and project partners. Bernadette’s passion for client care, collaboration, and cutting-edge design make her well equipped to take the helm. Additionally, Bernadette has 20 years of experience in interior and architectural design, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Portland State University.
Weber Thompson Senior Principal Kristen Scott says “Bernadette’s experience, enthusiasm and keen design eye make her particularly qualified to lead our Interiors group in reaching a new level of design excellence and technical execution. She is a natural mentor and has been a guiding force behind the development of our skilled team of interior designers. We couldn’t be more excited to see where she leads our firm’s Interior Design Studio in the coming years.”
A few of Bernadette’s notable projects during her time at Weber Thompson include: the 259-unit mixed-use apartment project Pike Motorworks in Capitol Hill; Sunset Electric, the Daily Journal of Commerce 2014 Building of the Year; Fremont9, a multifamily residential project currently under construction in Downtown Las Vegas; and the renovation of Willows Lodge and Barking Frog in Woodinville.
