Bastille, Poquitos Owners Continue Eastside Expansion with New 5,700 SF Restaurant Space; ‘Seaplane Kitchen + Bar’ to Feature Great Food and Drinks in a Casual, Family-Friendly Environment

Kenmore, Wash., December 12, 2017 – MainStreet Property Group LLC (www.mspgroupllc.com) (“MainStreet”), a full-service Kirkland-based mixed-use developer, today announced the cornerstone lease at their new stand-alone commercial building in downtown Kenmore. The space, now known as the Seaplane Kitchen + Bar, will be operated by well-known local restaurateurs James Weimann and Deming Maclise.
Ideally-located at the west end of Town Square in the heart of downtown Kenmore, Seaplane Kitchen + Bar will open in Fall 2018 and includes a 5,000 sq. ft. ground-level restaurant with a 700 sq. ft. upper mezzanine seating area. The new building is near MainStreet’s other projects known as LINQ Lofts + Flats and Spencer 68. The stand-alone commercial building, which broke ground this month, also includes a 3,000 sq. ft. office space currently available for lease. The City of Kenmore targeted the parcel as an ideal place for a new sit-down restaurant in its development conditions related to the sale of the property to MainStreet.

In recent years, the City of Kenmore has embarked on a bold redevelopment of its downtown core, which includes a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold-certified City Hall, new King County Library (both designed by Weinstein AU), the recently-completed Town Square (designed by Hewitt Architects) and adjacent community building, and the Hangar (designed by Graham Baba Architects). The Hangar celebrates Kenmore’s seaplane culture and features Diva Espresso serving outstanding coffee and light fare.
As its primary development partner, MainStreet has worked closely with the City of Kenmore on several new mixed-use developments in its new Town Square, including The Spencer 68 (featuring 225 for-lease apartments/lofts) and the LINQ Lofts + Flats (including 94 for-lease apartments above an all-new 20,000 sq. ft. EvergreenHealth Primary Care location). In addition to the new commercial building, MainStreet Property Group plans to develop a mixed-use building featuring additional commercial space and residential units in the Town Square. Seaplane Kitchen + Bar to Reflect Kenmore’s Comfortable, Approachable Atmosphere
Seaplane Kitchen + Bar will offer a menu centered around stone hearth pizzas, shareable roasted veggies and crowd-pleasing large plates including fried chicken, unique entrée salads and a stellar burger. Chef Jason Stoneburner’s emphasis will be on sourcing incredible local ingredients from sustainably-raised meats to organic vegetables—as well as Washington-grown flour from Shepherd’s Grain for naturally-fermented pizza dough. The Bar program, headed by Bastille and Stoneburner Bar Manager and Seaplane co-owner Erik Carlson, will feature 14 drafts with a heavy tilt towards regional breweries, and food-friendly classic cocktails highlighting agricultural spirits and seasonal ingredients. Growlers and pizza will also be available to-go.
Hailing from well-known local restauranteurs Weimann and Maclise and chef/owner Stoneburner, the large modern space at Seaplane Kitchen + Bar will also feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a family-friendly dining area and separate bar area designed for the crowd seeking more vibrant nightlife options in downtown Kenmore. The upstairs mezzanine will be available for private events for up to 50 guests and the outdoor patio will open out onto Kenmore’s Town Square pavilion area, adding additional seating during warmer months.
Weimann and Maclise are partners in a number of other popular Seattle eateries including Parisian bistro Bastille headed by Executive Chef Jason Stoneburner, Scottish pub/scotch bar Macleod’s, German bier hall Rhein Haus and most recently, a new Poquitos Mexican restaurant at MainStreet’s ‘The Junction’ mixed-use residential building in downtown Bothell, which will open this month. Weimann and Maclise also partnered with Chef Jason Stoneburner at his namesake restaurant ‘Stoneburner’ on Ballard Avenue, which opened in 2013.
