Central Network Retail Group Acquires Family-Owned McLendon Hardware

Renton-based McLendon Hardware, which has operated in the region since 1926, and has seven stores across the Puget Sound area, has been acquired by Memphis-based Central Network Retail Group. The company previously announced the acquisition, and the deed for some of the locations were finalized this week. So far, the deal for the real estate has reached $30 million, with additional sales expected.

According to public records, the sale of four of McLendon’s seven stores have been recorded. Those four stores are located at 11301 Canyon Road E in Puyallup, 1111 Fryat Ave. in Sumner, 1015 N Pearl St. in Tacoma and 10210 16th Ave. SW in Seattle. The Seattle location is a 33,691 square foot store built in 1953. According to King County public records, that store sold for $4,884,992.59.

In a company statement on Facebook, McLendon said it will retain its name and locations and will still be managed by Gail and Mike McLendon. Additionally, McLendon’s 500 employees will keep their jobs, the company said. McLendon said it hopes to eventually add new Puget Sound locations and also offer enhanced product selection and premier brands.

McLendon also said in the statement that customers can expect the “same legendary customer service, same employees” and dedication to customers and communities. “When you shop with us, you’ll continue to support our 500 fantastic employees at our seven stores. We’ll continue to earn your business and be your go-to hardware store, since 1926 and counting,” the company continued.

The other locations that haven’t been recorded yet include 23662 104th Ave. SE in Kent, 440 Rainier Ave. S in Renton and 17705 130th Ave. NE in Woodinville.

CNRG operates 81 hardware stores, home centers and lumberyards across 10 states.
